Helio G85 vs Snapdragon 720G: CPU & GPU Comparison

CPU

Both SoCs have 64-bit octa-core CPU, here the Snapdragon 720G has 2 ARM Cortex-A76 Gold Cores operating at up to 2.30GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 Silver Cores running at up to 1.80GHz clock speed while the Helio G85 comes with 2 ARM Cortex-A75 Big Cores clocked at up to 2.00GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 Little Cores that can operate at up to 1.80GHz clock speed.

Here the Snapdragon 720G has better CPU architecture and a better clock speed of its CPU because of which it can easily outperform the Helio G85 in terms of CPU processing.

GPU

Coming to the GPU section, for gaming, the Helio G85 features an ARM Mali-G52 operating at up to 1GHz which is paired with MediaTek HyperEngine Game technology. While the Snapdragon 720G integrates the Adreno 618 GPU. Here also the Snapdragon 720G has a better GPU in comparison of the Helio G85.

Manufacturing Process

The Helio G85 is designed at 12nm manufacturing process of TSMC while the Snapdragon 720G is built using the 8nm manufacturing process. So here the Snapdragon 720G is a much power-efficient chipset compared to the Helio G85.

Helio G85 vs SD 720G: Camera, Memory & Display

Camera

In the camera section, the Snapdragon 720G features the Qualcomm Spectra 350L image signal processor which is a dual ISP and has support for dual cameras up to 16 + 16MP and a single-camera of up to 32MP with MFNR & ZSL. By compromising with MFNR & ZSL, it can handle up to 192MP single camera.

While on the other side, the Helio G85 supports up to up to 16MP + 16MP dual and up to 48MP single camera sensor.

Memory

Speaking of the Helio G85, it has support for 4GB LPDDR3 RAM clocked at up to 933MHz and up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM operating at up to 1600MHz. For storage, it has support for eMMC5.1 based storage.

On the other hand, Snapdragon 720G supports up to 8GB 16 bit Dual-Channel LPDDR4x RAM operating at up to 2133MHz and UFS 2.1 & UFS 3.0 based storage.

Display

In the display section, the Helio G85 has support for Full HD Plus(2520 x 1080p) displays while the Snapdragon 720G supports up to Quad HD+(1440 x 3360 pixels) displays.
